The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State has officially adopted Chief Maurice Vunoboki as its governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections.
The adoption took place during the party’s congress held at Ribadu Square in Yola, where delegates and stakeholders from the 21 local government areas of the state unanimously endorsed Vunoboki as the party’s standard-bearer.
The process was presided over by the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, after a motion supporting Vunoboki’s adoption was moved and seconded by party delegates at the congress.
Following the approval of the motion, Ologunagba formally declared Chief Maurice Vunoboki as the PDP governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Adamawa State.
Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), party executives, stakeholders, and supporters monitored the exercise, which was conducted peacefully.
Speaking at the event, the Acting Chairman of the PDP in Adamawa State, Belmond Dogo, said the decision to adopt Vunoboki followed extensive consultations among party leaders and acting local government chairmen across the state.
Dogo explained that party stakeholders had earlier agreed during several meetings to present Vunoboki as the sole candidate of the PDP in order to promote unity and strengthen the party ahead of the next general elections.
He added that the adoption reflected the collective resolve of party members to position the PDP for victory in the 2027 governorship race.
Supporters who attended the congress described the development as a major step toward consolidating the party’s structure and ensuring cohesion within the PDP in Adamawa State.
