The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Zone 3, has honoured the retiring Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), Akinwale Kunle Adeniran, in recognition of his exemplary leadership, commitment to community policing and outstanding contributions to security in the North-East.
The tribute was paid during a farewell visit to the AIG led by the Chairman of PCRC Zone 3, Chief Simon Buba, who is also the District Head of Duguba.
Speaking during the visit, Chief Buba commended Adeniran for maintaining an open-door policy throughout his tenure, describing him as an accessible, professional and people-oriented leader whose administration strengthened collaboration between the police and the communities they serve.
According to him, the retiring AIG recorded remarkable achievements in the zone and promoted a cordial working relationship with stakeholders.
“It is a great honour for anyone to serve the country diligently, retire in good health, and return home to enjoy the fruits of years of dedicated service,” he said.
Chief Buba explained that the committee considered it necessary to pay the farewell visit to appreciate the AIG’s dedication to duty and his unwavering support for community policing initiatives.
He prayed for God’s continued protection over the retiring officer, expressing confidence that retirement would usher in greater peace, good health and fulfilment. He added that although Adeniran was leaving active service, his wealth of experience would continue to benefit the Nigeria Police Force and the nation whenever called upon.
Responding, AIG Adeniran described the honour as a memorable and joyful moment, thanking God for granting him the grace to complete his career in good health.
He attributed the successes recorded during his tenure to the cooperation and support of police officers, members of the PCRC, traditional rulers and residents across the zone.
The retiring police chief reaffirmed that community policing remains one of the most effective strategies for combating crime, stressing that sustainable security can only be achieved through active collaboration between the police and members of the public.
He noted that although crime remains a challenge in every society, the strong partnership between security agencies and communities has significantly improved safety in Adamawa State.
“People can now sleep with greater peace of mind because of the collective efforts of the police and the communities,” he said.
Adeniran also thanked the PCRC for the recognition and the enduring partnership maintained throughout his years of service, describing the committee’s support as invaluable to the successes recorded under his leadership.
Members of the delegation also paid glowing tributes to the retiring AIG, offering prayers for good health, peace and a fulfilling retirement after decades of dedicated service to the nation.
The farewell visit highlighted the importance of sustained collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and community stakeholders in promoting peace, security and public trust, while celebrating the enduring legacy of a senior police officer whose leadership has made a significant impact on policing in the North-East.
