The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested 33 suspects during coordinated raids on identified criminal hideouts in Yola South and Girei Local Government Areas as part of its sustained campaign against crime across the state.
The intelligence-led operation, conducted on June 27, was carried out by Divisional Police Officers under the Yola Area Command and coordinated by the Area Commander, Yola.
According to the command, the operation targeted several criminal flashpoints, including Bamgel Mafias Quarters, Yolde Pate Junction/New Road, the area behind LCCN Church, Shagari Phase II, Sabon Fegi, Unguwan Burauba, Mbamoi, Hayin Gada, Anguwan Tsamiya, Anguwan Fulani, Sokoto Street, and Yola Market.
The police said the raids led to the arrest of 33 suspects allegedly linked to various criminal activities, including Shilla gangsterism, drug-related offences, and other crimes.
Exhibits recovered during the operation included a cutlass, a knife, an antelope horn, 10 razor blades, suspected banned substances, and dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp. The command said the recovered items had been documented and would be tendered as evidence during prosecution.
The police disclosed that the suspects are currently undergoing screening and profiling. Those found culpable will be charged in court, while investigations continue to establish their possible involvement in other criminal activities.
Commending the officers for their professionalism and commitment, the Commissioner of Police, Kabiru Umar Hassan, directed that similar intelligence-driven operations be sustained across the state to deny criminal elements safe havens.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating crime and protecting lives and property in Adamawa State, while urging residents to continue providing timely and credible information to support security agencies in maintaining peace, law, and order across the state.
