Residents of Adamawa State and the wider North-East region may soon enjoy significant relief from rising transportation costs following the launch of the ATRaS Mobility Ecosystem by P-GAT Industries Limited.
The initiative was officially unveiled on Saturday in Numan during the ACTORS Mobility Transition Summit 2026, where stakeholders gathered to discuss sustainable solutions to the region’s transportation challenges.
Speaking at the summit, Chairman and President of P-GAT Industries Ltd, Prime GA Timothy, said the ATRaS Mobility Ecosystem was designed to address transportation difficulties through an integrated system that combines transport services, infrastructure development, asset ownership and sustainable energy solutions.
According to Timothy, the project aims to reduce transportation costs by at least 50 per cent, a move he described as essential to improving productivity and enhancing the quality of life of Nigerians.
He noted that the rising cost of transportation has become a major economic burden on households and businesses, affecting workers, students and traders across the country.
“Our target is simple. If you currently spend ₦100 on transportation, we want to bring it down to ₦50. If you spend ₦1,000, we want to reduce it to ₦500,” he said.
Timothy explained that the ATRaS ecosystem was developed after more than five years of research and planning aimed at providing practical solutions to long-standing mobility challenges.
Beyond reducing commuting expenses, he said the initiative would stimulate economic activities by making the movement of people and goods more affordable and efficient. The programme is also expected to provide access to productive assets for individuals, families and institutions, enabling participants to generate income and improve their economic standing.
Industry stakeholders at the summit described affordable transportation as a critical driver of regional economic growth, noting that reduced mobility costs would improve access to markets, employment opportunities and essential services.
In her goodwill message, Technical Adviser to the Borno Investment Promotion Agency, Dr. Nafisa Bukar, said the North-East requires integrated transport and logistics systems to overcome challenges associated with long distances and high logistics costs.
She stated that the ATRaS Mobility Ecosystem has the potential to connect people, markets and investment opportunities across the region while boosting economic activities.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary representing the Adamawa State Commissioner for Transport Development, Alhaji Hamidu Njidda, described mobility as a key driver of economic inclusion and prosperity.
The summit highlighted plans for the deployment of modern transport infrastructure, including transport hubs and energy solutions to support electric mobility across participating states.
Organisers disclosed that each participating state under the programme has been allocated 1,500 units
