Taraba state Mambilla beverages Company says it has generated over one hundred and ten million naira profit in the last five months.
The Acting Managing Director and chief executive officer of the company Dr. Abubakar Hamidu Kara stated this while briefing journalists on the recent achievements the company has recorded.
Dr. Abubakar Hamidu Kara, who assumed office as the Managing Director of the company in March 2025, noted that before he took over leadership, the company previously generated only 50 million naira despite its potential.
“Within the period we manage the company, we have made a profit of one hundred and seventeen million naira and we intend to improve on this. Normally profits are declared at the end of the year but we are putting strategies in place to ensure that by the end of the year we can declare profit of two hundred or three hundred million naira which we believe can enhance the IGR of the state.”
He attributed the recent improved profit generation, strengthened capital of the company, and other achievements to the deployment of strategic initiatives.
According to him, measures such as declaration of state of emergency on the company and intensive tea plantation revitalization, among other initiatives, have driven daily productivity up from 4500 kilograms to 15000 kilograms per day.
Commenting on general staff welfare, Dr. Kara emphasised that he and the entire management team ensured the implementation of new national minimum wage and other welfare packages for workers in line with current economic realities.
Dr. Kara assured that they would leave not rest on their oars in transforming the company and placing it on the global stage.
During the briefing, the Acting Managing Director used the opportunity to debunk social media reports claiming a Kenyan Tea Company had declined its partnership with the Mambilla beverages company, labelling the claims as baseless and without substance.
He disclosed the Kenyan company’s plans to train their staff and introduce cutting-edge technologies that will match global standards.
Dr. kara equally thanked Governor Abgu kefas for his unwavering support and leadership, which has positively impacted the company.
