Fight Against Shilla Gangsterism Intensified as Police Arrest Two Suspects for Robbery, Burglary in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on Shilla gangsterism and other criminal activities, leading to the arrest of two suspects linked to separate cases of burglary and armed robbery in Yola North Local Government Area.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, FDC, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ridding the state of criminal elements through proactive policing and intelligence-driven operations.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, operatives attached to the Doubeli Divisional Police Headquarters arrested a 22-year-old suspect, Idris Auwal, on June 3, 2026, in connection with a burglary incident at Nassarawo Borehole.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Auwal allegedly conspired with three accomplices, who remain at large, to break into a shop owned by Abdullahi Sunusi.
The suspects reportedly stole a bag containing cash, important documents, and assorted shop provisions worth a substantial amount.
Police investigations led to the arrest of Auwal, while efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend the remaining suspects.
In a separate operation on June 5, 2026, officers of the Doubeli Division arrested another suspected Shilla gang member accused of terrorizing residents through armed robbery attacks.
The suspect allegedly confronted Abubakar Abdullahi along the Doubeli Bypass, armed with a cutlass, and robbed him of an Itel mobile phone and N19,000 cash. During the attack, the victim sustained head injuries inflicted with the weapon.
Police operatives responded swiftly to the incident, apprehended the suspect, and ensured the victim received immediate medical attention.Items recovered from the suspects include a cutlass, a knife, and the stolen mobile phone.
The two suspects are currently undergoing investigation, while security operatives continue efforts to arrest other fleeing members of the criminal gang.
