Dr. Muyi Aina Flags Off Two-Day Free Medical Outreach in Egbe, Fulfilling Promise to Indigenes

YOLA —The Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Dr. Muyi Aina, has flagged off a two-day free medical outreach in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The Outreach Program, aimed at providing essential healthcare services to the indigenes, is a collaborative effort with the Bobaselu Initiative and supported by the Kogi State Government.
The program was officially launched today, 2nd November 2024 with a brief ceremony attended by Community Leaders, Healthcare Professionals, and residents of Egbe who gathered to witness the commencement of the impactful health intervention.
The two-day event will feature a variety of free healthcare services, including General Consultations, Medical Screenings and Operations, Maternal and Child Health Services and provision of essential medications.
Skilled Healthcare Workers were on ground to offer the aforementioned services, ensuring a holistic approach to primary healthcare delivery.
In his opening remark, Dr. Aina who was represented by his wife, Mrs. Buky Aina said the initiative is a fulfillment of the promise made by her husband during his recent Conferment as the Bobaselu of Egbe.
Dr. Aina stressed the importance of accessible healthcare for all, particularly those in rural Communities.
“The well-being of our people remain a priority and we are grateful for the support of the Kogi State Government in making this outreach possible,” she stated.
Dr. Aina also expressed hope that the outreach will foster ongoing healthcare support within the Community, ensuring primary health services reaches the most vulnerable population.
He acknowledged the efforts of local community leaders for their collaboration in organizing the event.
Earlier the Coordinator of the outreach, Dr. Zakari Usman, said with a rich background as a seasoned management consultant and public health professional, Dr. Aina has demonstrated his commitment to advancing healthcare accessibility through the much-needed outreach.
Dr. Zakari said the outreach is expected to provide free medical services to at least two thousand people, pointing out that health experts were already attending to community members who came with various health issues.
He thanked the stakeholders of Yagba West Local Government Area, including the political leaders, traditional rulers and the management of the cottage hospital in Egbe for their support and corporation.
The Chairman of Yagba West Local Government Area, Hon. Tosin Olokun commended Dr. Muyi Aina for his kind gesture, saying that the people of Egbe are happy with the outreach as it has enabled them to access free medical care effortlessly.
While urging the people to take advantage of the opportunities, the Council Chairman appealed to Dr. Aina to extend the outreach to other parts of the Local Government.
The outreach program has been welcomed by the Egbe community with residents expressing gratitude for the life-saving services now accessible at their doorstep.
Many shared stories of hardship in accessing healthcare facilities due to distance and financial constraints, marking the impact of the initiative on their lives.
The event is expected to conclude tomorrow, 3rd November 2024 with plans for follow-up assessments to ensure the sustainability of health improvement across Kogi State.
