Adamawa Police Arrest Two Suspected Armed Robbers, Recover Weapons, Stolen Items

The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two suspected armed robbers following an intelligence-led operation conducted under its ongoing security initiative, Operation Sanity Mubi.
The suspects, Abdulhamid Salihu, popularly known as “Baban Anty,” and Bello Yahaya, also called “Baban Yambiyu,” were arrested in connection with a robbery incident that occurred in the early hours of June 10, 2026, at Unguwar Kara in Mubi, Adamawa State.
According to the Command, the suspects, along with two accomplices who are still at large, allegedly attacked one Mustapha Ali, inflicted injuries on him, and dispossessed him of cash and other valuables.
Police operatives attached to the Mubi North and Mubi South divisions were said to have tracked and arrested the suspects after sustained intelligence gathering. Items recovered from them include mobile phones, jewelry, handbags, travelling bags, and weapons allegedly used in carrying out the operation.
The Command said the arrests are part of renewed efforts to curb criminal activities in the area and enhance public safety across the state.
Spokesperson for the Command, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, confirmed that investigation is ongoing, adding that efforts have been intensified to apprehend the remaining fleeing suspects and ensure they are brought to justice.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining peace and maintaining law and order across Adamawa State.
