The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a suspected kidnapper in connection with the abduction of three persons in Hullere Gwalamba, Yola North Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect, identified as Alhaji Adamu Yahaya of Hosere Jambutu, Yola North, was apprehended following an intelligence-led operation launched by the Command after a report of the incident.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday, saying the case was reported to the State Intelligence Department (SID) on June 16, 2026, by Samaila Musa, a resident of Hullere Gwalamba.
According to the statement, Musa informed the police that three of his sons—Adamu Samaila Sultan, 24, Bilal Abdurrahman, 8, and Ya’u Sani Baba Iyali, 10—were kidnapped on June 12 and taken to an unknown destination.
The police spokesman said the abductors later established contact with the family and demanded a ransom for the release of the victims.
Following the report, the Commissioner of Police, Kabir Umar Hassan, directed operatives to commence a discreet investigation and deploy intelligence and technical resources to track down those responsible for the crime.
Nguroje said the operation led to the arrest of Yahaya, who is currently assisting investigators with information that could lead to the arrest of other members of the kidnapping syndicate.
“The suspect is providing useful information that will assist in the arrest of other members of the kidnapping syndicate,” the statement said.
The Command noted that investigations are ongoing and assured that the suspect would be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
It also reiterated its commitment to rescuing the victims and bringing all those involved in the kidnapping to justice, adding that further details would be made available as the investigation progresses.
