A governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, Salihu Mustapha, has pledged to tackle insecurity across communities in the state if elected governor.
Mustapha, a former National Vice Chairman (North-East) of the APC, made the pledge on Monday during separate royal visits to the Emirs of Madagali, Michika and Mubi.
Speaking during the visits, the APC chieftain said his administration would consolidate on the achievements of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri in critical sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture and youth empowerment.
He stated that his background as a lawyer, political analyst and security expert had equipped him with the experience needed to contribute to peace and stability in the state, particularly in Adamawa Northern Zone, which shares proximity with the Sambisa Forest, a known hideout of Boko Haram insurgents.
Mustapha commended President Bola Tinubu and the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, for their efforts in addressing insecurity across the country.
According to him, collaboration between the Adamawa State Government and the Federal Government under the APC would attract democratic dividends capable of creating jobs and reducing poverty among residents.
In their separate remarks, the traditional rulers expressed appreciation for the visit and assured the aspirant of their support.
The paramount ruler of Michika, Prof. Luka Gadiga, urged Mustapha to prioritise youth empowerment and job creation as part of efforts to curb insecurity in the state.
Similarly, the Ptil Madagali, Alhaji Ali Danburam, represented by Alhaji Mustapha Sinusi, expressed confidence in the APC aspirant and encouraged him to build on the legacy of Governor Fintiri while intensifying efforts to address security challenges.
Also speaking, the Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Bathiya Wesley, described Mustapha as a grassroots politician with the credibility to lead the state.
He called on traditional rulers and residents to support the aspirant in his governorship ambition.
Mustapha also met with APC officials in two local government areas, where he promised to create more opportunities for party members and solicited their support ahead of the governorship race.
